First day high!!!

a conversation i heard from Gab with himself while switching a toy from one hand to the other.

i know it's healthy for kids to have an imaginary friend but a Gollum-like monologue for such a small kid is ... a little disturbing. I knew at that point he needed a playmate. But who, where? oh yes, school! :-)

Master crammer that I am (im still grinning about that shirt design i conceptualized for 30 MINUTES!! which won first place:D), we found him a pre-school that still accepts enrollees at this time. Active Thinkers Child Development Center (info here and here), they follow the 'progressive method' of teaching. I was doubtful at first since their tuition is surprisingly low compared to the other more popular progressive schools in the metro but after attending my first PTA meeting, im convinced they really do. Their curriculum is patterned after UP CDC, which is great since it's really hard to get into CDC (unless you're a UP staff's kid). Owner/head teacher Lenith Nolasco Senora is a graduate of UP MassComm and taking her masters from UP FLCD so i guess she knows what she is talking about (biased, eh?). Gabriel's teacher, Teacher Neth, took her Psychology undergrad from PUP and is now completing her MA thesis from UP FLCD as well. It is a small, unassuming pre-school with a homey feel that Gabriel fell inlove with. I knew because on our first visit, he immediately took off his shoes, sat in the toddler class and stayed until it was almost finished. That was our deciding factor :-)

Gab's first school day!

 we fixed everything the day before. Chard even sewed Gab's apron and altered his jogging pants. i did my artsy-fartsy contribution (skill level = 1000:P)

which he immediately reorganized the moment he woke up :-))

he was so excited, he asked to take his shower (usually there's pilitan first)

he got bored of waiting, he took off his shoes and socks :-))

now, off to school :-)

It was a 'successful' first day. His teacher said he was playful. But of course, he's 2.7yo what did she expect? haha. To top it off, Gab will be serviced by Sir Steve with a starex, get this, alone! well, with a the yaya of course but they will be the only passengers! cool! :-))

oh yes, there was a little bit of crying, but not from Gabriel. :D
